Moon Rope Ritual Theatre
This February, for the first two weekends, join Moon Rope Theatre at Marin Shakespeare as we bring to life a ritual theatre adaptation of mystic poet Attar of Nishapur’s Sufi poem The Conference of the Birds (1177 CE).
This interdisciplinary work weaves together Sufi mysticism and the ancient Nahualismo dreaming tradition of Mexico, inviting audiences on a collective journey of transformation — to release fear, awaken consciousness, and rediscover the mystery within and before us.
We are creating an interdisciplinary performances rooted in myth, ritual, and the absurd, engaging the sacred playfulness of theatre as a vehicle for healing and remembrance. Through physical theatre, aerial dance, live Persian music, shadow puppetry, and poetry, ensemble artists embody a story of devotion, flight, and rebirth — an old myth told for a new era.
At its heart, this piece explores how we, as a collective, can move beyond the shadow of fear into awareness — how we might leap together into a more connected and luminous future.
✨ Accessibility & Community Support
All performances will be by suggested donation, an offering at the threshold, with no one turned away. This story is for all who feel called to take flight with us. Our becoming is shared; our evolution, collective. This journey of awakening and flight is one we take together.
This work is being created by an extraordinary ensemble of local actors, dancers, musicians, and ritualists, and we’re seeking community financial and practical support to ensure each artist is compensated fairly for their time and devotion.
If this story resonates with you — if you believe in the power of art to heal, awaken, and transform — we invite you to support Conference of the Birds and help us bring this vision to flight.
Your contribution will directly support artist pay, production costs, and the creation of an immersive, heart-centered experience for our community.
To connect or contribute, please reach out directly with our Movement Director and Producer, Kaya Mey of Haven Healing Arts Center. Every offering, monetary or voluntary, large or small, helps this vision soar. Money can be donated through clicking any image in our “Get Involved” Page, via Venmo @kayamey or zelle @ 415-747-5016, or you can reach out directly to kayamey@gmail.com. All donations are tax deductible, through our umbrella organization Crescent Moon Theater Productions.
Looking forward to taking flight with you,

Dreaming and The Arts
The landscape of dreaming is parallel with the imaginal realm of the arts. Content from the Unconscious, the Soul, and channeled from the collective awareness speak to us through imagery, poetry and direct messages when we open to the creative process. Projects blending elements of Curanderismo, Nahualismo, and the Arts are my specialty. Topics of creative inquiry include:
intuitive physical theatre and dance, a theatre of dreaming and transmutation
working with the senses and the elements of ritual intention and precision in theatre
workshops on intuitive processes in theatre making, speaking to the unconscious
The Old Winds project, a guided process for finding and healing our influential ancestral traumas
poetry, channeling, and the mythic
clearing the Aires, the emotions we identify with and their manifested symptoms, through art making
honoring rites of passage and the seasonal shifts
a deep investigation of the art of storytelling and mysticism encoded in myth
